The Mission

The Great Lakes Valor Cup exists at the intersection of two extraordinary organizations: PGA HOPE, which uses golf to heal veterans, and Folds of Honor, providing educational scholarships to the spouses and children of fallen or disabled military service members and first responders.

The Foundation

PGA HOPE

HOPE stands for Helping Our Patriots Everywhere.

PGA HOPE is the flagship military program of the PGA of America, introducing golf to veterans with disabilities to improve physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being. Through weekly golf sessions led by PGA Professionals, veterans find community, purpose, and healing.

The 24 athletes competing in the Great Lakes Valor Cup are graduates of PGA HOPE programs in Ohio and Michigan. They represent thousands of veterans across the country who have used golf as a pathway to a better life.

“Golf saved my life. Not dramatically — slowly, meaningfully. One round at a time. The fairway became my therapy, the scorecard my focus, and my fellow veterans my family.”

The Beneficiary

Folds ofHonor

Founded in 2007 by Lt. Col. Dan Rooney (U.S. Air Force), Folds of Honor provides educational scholarships to the spouses and children of America's fallen and disabled service members.

Every dollar raised at the Great Lakes Valor Cup goes directly to Folds of Honor, continuing the work of ensuring that when a service member falls, their family does not fall with them.

Every one of the 24 competitors put up $210 of their own money. The winning team's $5,000 pot goes directly to their Folds of Honor chapter — funding educational scholarships for the spouses and children of fallen and disabled service members. That's not a fundraiser. That's conviction.
